Dr. Kofi Amoabeng Urges Ken Ofori-Atta to Address Allegations

In an exclusive interview with Kojo Preko Dankwa, host of the Maakye programme on Kessben 92.9 FM in Accra, renowned Ghanaian businessman and former UT Bank Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Kofi Amoabeng, has called on former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to return and respond to questions and allegations being raised against him.

Dr. Amoabeng emphasized that responding to allegations does not automatically imply criminal wrongdoing. “I am asking him to come and answer every question,” Dr. Amoabeng stated, adding that “not everything that is claimed necessarily amounts to criminal intent.”

The call comes amid ongoing discussions about the management of Ghana’s economy and allegations surrounding the tenure of Ken Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister. Dr. Amoabeng urged Ofori-Atta to come forward and address concerns, stressing that doing so would help clarify matters and boost public confidence.

Dr. Amoabeng dismissed suggestions that his comments are motivated by personal opposition, clarifying that he holds no animosity toward the former Finance Minister. “We are brothers. His family is my family, and my family is his. People are projecting it as though I am against him, but that is not the case,” he explained.

According to Dr. Amoabeng, his call is based on principle, accountability, and the need for clarity, especially for public confidence and national interest. “I have nothing against Ken Ofori-Atta,” he added.
