A group of university professors and other professionals across the country, have declared their support for Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong to lead the New Patriotic Party. This is not the first time university professors and professionals have openly declared their support for Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong. The Legon Lecturers and Professionals for Ken (LLPFK), established about two years ago, has on several occasions declared Hon. Ken as the best person to lead the New Patriotic Party. However, what happened on Tuesday November 11, 2025, was unique since this was the first time professors and professionals from the country’s major public universities, visited him at his campaign office, and reiterated their collective support for Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong, in his bid to lead the New Patriotic Party.
Numbering about sixty, the group was drawn from professors and professionals from the University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Cape Coast, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Ghana Technology Communication University, Ghana Maritime University and Pentecost University.
Aside the academia that was heavily represented at the meeting, other professionals represented were surveyors, engineers, registrars, architects and other senior administrative personnel from the country’s universities.
In his opening remarks, the convener of the meeting, Professor Alhassan Sulemana Anamzoya of the University of Ghana made their mission clear to Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong. According to him, the group was at the campaign office to show their unalloyed support to him and to express their willingness to campaign for him in any form that Hon. Ken would consider suitable. Prof. Anamzoya reminded Hon. Ken that the overwhelming support academia is giving him is on the basis of his *job creation agenda* Accrding to him, it is disheartening for them as university professors, to see their graduates walking around the streets of Ghana looking for non-existing jobs. *Unemployment is a major canker in Ghana. And out of all the five aspirants currently campaigning to lead the New Patriotic Party, only you, Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong has shown to the whole world that you are a job creator and the solution to Ghana’s major problem of unemployment. You have proven beyond every reasonable doubt, that you have the capacity to create jobs for both the highly educated and the less educated”*
On his part, Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong expressed his profound gratitude to the professors and professionals for their continuous support for his bid to lead NPP and eventually become President of the Republic. He was pleasantly surprised and visibly excited to note that, the voluntary support of a small group of professors and professionals at the University of Ghana that started about two years ago, has now become a national affair, in all the country’s major universities. The former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, reminded the university professors and professionals that his main objective of contesting to become President of the Republic, is for job creation and to apply his business ideas to ensure food sufficiency. And that using the five northern regions and parts of Volta region, Ghana could grow enough food to feed the whole of Africa. With food sufficiency, Ghana would minimize its dependency on imported food products and by extension, minimize its dependency on the dollar to import food items into the country. *“My mission is simple; jobs! Jobs!! And Jobs!!! And in creating jobs for the Ghanaian youth, we grow and process what we eat, and ensure financial discipline.”*
On their part, most of the professors and professionals expressed their confidence in Hon. Ken’s capacity to create jobs since he has done it before with his over seven thousand jobs already created through pragmatic ideas and discipline.
Other colleagues acknowledged that unemployment is a major problem in Ghana, which explains why all the five aspirants are promising the delegates of job creation, with one even promising ten employments in each of the 276 constituencies in the country. However, none of the aspirants has been able to prove the capacity to having done so in the past nor the capability to do so in the future.” Most colleagues at the meeting condemned the dishonesty of some Ghanaian politicians in promising what they cannot provide.
One key suggestion was that there should be another meeting of the university-professors and professionals on a weekend to enable the numerous colleagues who were not able to attend due to official engagements in their various universities, also participate.
Other senior campaign members present were His excellency Ambassador Ansu Kyeremeh, Ghana’s former minister for land and natural resources and former Ambassador to India, Hon. Charles Bissiu, the Campaign Administrator and Dr. Palgrave Boakye Danquah.
On behalf of the The university professors and professionals, Professor Anamzoya expressed his gratitude to Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong for making time to meet with them despite the short notice, and promised to continuously campaign for the success of Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong.
