Galamsey is now worse, NDC should start apologizing to Ghanaians for lying about Galamsey on their way to power – Hon Frank Aduse-Poku

Former DCE of Asunafo South, Hon. Frank Aduse‑Poku, speaking on Kessben FM, has called on the sitting National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to apologise to Ghanaians for misleading claims about curbing galamsey before coming into power.
According to him, illegal mining has not improved under the NDC, as many were led to believe, but is in fact worsening.
Speaking on Kessben FM with Wofa Kofi Appiah, Hon. Aduse‑Poku argued that during the campaign, the NDC pledged to tackle galamsey decisively, promising cleaner rivers, protected forests, and stricter enforcement.
These promises, he said, gave many citizens hope that the environmental destruction wrought by illegal small‑scale mining would be curtailed. Today, however, he contends the situation is more dire than ever, water bodies remain polluted, forests continue to shrink, and illegal miners appear emboldened.
Hon. Aduse‑Poku insists that leadership must take responsibility. He urged the government to publicly acknowledge where it has fallen short, and to take urgent concrete actions that match the rhetoric.
