I inherited $200m debt – DVLA Boss reveals

In an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Channel One TV’s Face to Face on Tuesday, August 19, Mr. Kotey disclosed that the Authority’s finances were in significant deficit at the time.
“I inherited debt, which I made the public aware of. In our dollar account, we were owing close to $200 million. In our cedi account, we were owing about GHC300 million,” he stated.
Despite the financial challenges, the DVLA boss said the Authority has made remarkable progress under his leadership.
According to him, revenue for the first quarter of 2025 surged by 57 percent compared to previous years.
“I don’t want to blow my horns, but I have been able to make a lot of changes. In the 2025 first quarter, I moved revenue up by 57%,” he noted.
