I suggest Daddy Lumba’s statue should be erected at Suame Roundabout, The place leads to his hometown – DJ KA

With tributes continuing to pour in following the passing of Ghana’s beloved highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, conversations have now shifted from mourning to legacy.
Speaking on his show (Krenkren to Krankran) on Kessben FM, popular radio personality DJ KA made a heartfelt and symbolic proposal.
“I suggest the Suame Roundabout for late Daddy Lumba’s statue to be erected if there’s any consideration of making a statue for him. The place heads to his hometown, Nsuta Mampong.” He stated.
According to DJ KA, situating the statue at Suame Roundabout would be both a tribute and a signpost, a reminder of where the legend came from and the direction he led Ghanaian music.
Suame Roundabout, a major traffic junction in Kumasi, serves as a gateway to the Ashanti Region’s Nsuta Mampong, where Daddy Lumba hails from. For DJ KA, this is not just a matter of geography, it’s about grounding the legacy of Lumba in a physical, public space that connects millions of travelers to the legend’s roots.
For over 30 years, Daddy Lumba shaped the sound of highlife music in Ghana. With over 30 albums and countless hit songs including “Aben Wo Ha”, “Playboy”, and “Yentie Obiaa”, he influenced generations of musicians and fans alike. He wasn’t just an entertainer, he was a voice that spoke to love, betrayal, struggle, and hope.
Calls for a statue or national monument in his honor are growing stronger. Music lovers, culture advocates, and social commentators believe it’s time Ghana begins honoring its legends while preserving their legacies physically, not just through playlists and documentaries.
