Parliamentary Select Committee Leader Lauds KATH Management for Being Prudent With Resources.

Dr Thomas Anabah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Garu and the leader of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health has commended the management of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for being prudent with its resources.
The leader also lauded management for ensuring the use of its internally generated (IGF) in retooling the facility.
Dr Anabah furthermore commended management for being innovative in their approach to solving complex issues at the premier hospital 🏥 in the Ashanti Region.
Dr Anabah made these remarks after leading some members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health to visit KATH on Wednesday.
Inspection:
The team also took time to inspect the departments and units at the health facility including the Accidents and Emergency Unit as well as the refurbished Maternity blocks and theaters.
“We’ve been highly impressed as a Committee with the work the management and staff of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) have done and to see them use its internally generated funds to purchase high cost equipment for use is highly commendable”, the Lead Member stated.
Observations:
Touring the facility, the leader said the Committee was touched by the level of discipline at the facility.
He also praised management for ensuring a remarkable level of cleanliness at the premier hospital.
The Leader noted that as compared to other health facilities in the country, KATH just like the Kumasi South Hospital which the team visited earlier have given a good account of themselves in the area of hygiene.
Admonition:
Dr Anabah, medical practitioner himself said KATH by virtue of the numbers it has been recording for laboratory investigations could leverage and get more revenue to maintain the facility.
He noted that KATH already has a good name, adding that due to its rebranding efforts by management it was credit worthy.
“You’ve gotten a good CEO and management that are prudent and innovative in their ways and so use your numbers and brand to access credit from the banks and retool to make your operations fitting of a Teaching Hospital which could be compared to the best across the world 🌎 “, the Leader of the Select Committee stressed.
Chief Executive Officer of KATH:
Professor Dr Dr Otchere Addai-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer at KATH thanked the team for visiting.
He also commended them for their useful inputs, suggestions and pieces of advice.
He promised that management would use the ideas shared to carry out reforms so that KATH could give the highest quality of care to its patients and clients.
“As the CEO, i promise to infuse the ideas generated from our useful deliberations into the way we operate so that we minimise the mistakes that occur here in our bid to giving our customers, patients and clients the best of services they deserve”, the CEO stated.
