The performance of Kotoko does not equate to the spectatorship at Baba Yara for Kotoko games – Abdulai Omar, Chief Kotoko supporter, bemoans low attendance

Abdulai Omar, the Chief Kotoko Supporter, has voiced his concerns over the glaring mismatch between the team’s on-pitch performance and the number of spectators turning out to watch them at Baba Yara Stadium.

Abdulai speaking on Kessben TV with Sir Joe Laka on Monday after Kotoko beating Karela to top the Ghana Premier League said, while the team continues to put in solid performances, the stadium stands remain sparsely populated, a situation he finds disappointing and disheartening for a club of Kotoko’s stature.

In recent seasons, Kotoko has managed to show flashes of brilliance, competing at the top of the Ghana Premier League and contending for various domestic honors. Under the leadership of their management, the club has made strides in assembling a competitive squad, and supporters have expected the team to make a strong impression this season. Yet, despite their best efforts and competitive performances, the number of fans filling the stands during Kotoko’s home fixtures has dwindled.

Abdulai Omar, whose role as a passionate supporter of the club has earned him recognition as a figurehead of the Kotoko fan base, is baffled by the lack of spectators.

There are several reasons behind the low turnout at Baba Yara Stadium for Kotoko matches, some of which are deeply rooted in the socio-economic realities of Ghana’s football scene.

Abdulai Omar’s call to action goes beyond simply lamenting the current state of attendance at Kotoko games. As Chief Supporter, he believes it’s critical for the club’s management, the players, and the supporters to work together in creating an environment that fosters greater fan involvement.

Omar also called on the players to maintain their level of performance, stressing that the team’s effort on the field should continue to serve as a motivating factor for fans to come out and support them in greater numbers.

The importance of fan support cannot be overstated, as it plays a crucial role in boosting player morale and creating a more electric atmosphere at the stadium. For Abdulai Omar and the loyal Kotoko fans, the message is clear: while the team continues to perform on the pitch, it’s time for the fans to step up and show their unwavering support in the stands.
