Showing Compassion to the Incarcerated: Obuasi Church of Pentecost Reaches Out to Obuasi and Ahinsan Prisons

In a heartwarming display of compassion and kindness, the Church of Pentecost, Obuasi Area has donated essential items worth thirty thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵ 30,000.00) to the prisoners in Obuasi and the Ahinsan Local Prisons.

The items included bags of rice, sugar, maize, beans, boxes of meat, crate of eggs, celling fans,toothpastee and brush, slippers, and many more.

This outreach program was led by Prophet David Kankam Beditor, Area head, Church of Pentecost Obuasi, recognizes the importance of showing love and care to those often forgotten by the society.
According to the Area Head, the church has established a department known as the Prison Ministry which is mandated to cater for those in prison custodies by sharing the word of God with them as well as catering for some of their needs.
He said ” As the scripture said when the son of man comes in his glory, He will gather all the nation and separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goates then He will say to those on his left that depart from me for I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me” Matthew 25: 43 “.
Prophet Beditor mentioned that the church believes that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. He again stated that the motive behind the kind gesture is a way of showing love to those in prison as the scripture demand and also to tell them how God loves them.
The church, he said, plans to continue its outreach program, exploring ways to provide ongoing support to prisoners and their families.
He made an appeal to all churches, non-governmental organizations, and individuals to come to the aid of the prisoners and support them with some of their needs.

The donation was received with gratitude by the prison authorities, who acknowledged the positive impact such gestures have on the prisoners’ morale and rehabilitation.

“We appreciate the church’s kindness and generosity,” said ASP Prince Asante – Yeboah of the Obuasi Local Prisons.

He mentioned that the donation will go a long way to improve the upkeep of the inmates.

ASP Asante – Yeboah made a passionate appeal by calling on Churches, NGOs and individuals to come and support the Obuasi Local prison with food stuffs and most especially drugs which has become an urgent need of the prison service.
