Vivo Energy Ghana supports physical and mental well-being of commercial drivers

Vivo Energy Ghana has held it’s  2nd edition of the Fit2Drive education wellness program for commercial drivers at the Neoplan station circle, Accra.

It was organized in partnership with National Road Safety Authority, Vivo Energy Ghana Transporters, and Hollard Ghana and in attendance includes representatives from Motor Traffic Transport Department, Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority and Ghana National Fire Service.

Others were Ghana Police , Ghana Private Road Transport Union ( GPRTU) ,  Progressive Transport Owners Association ( PROTOA), VIP, Ghana Health Service.

The event seeks to educate drivers on road safety,  promote and enhance the physical and mental well-being of commercial drivers and ensure that they maintain optimal health safety standards on the road.

The initiative will be rolled out in five regional capitals

for over 1, 000 commercial drivers in Accra, Kumasi, Koforidua and Techiman.

Speaking on the theme ” Your health, Your wealth”, The Managing Director for Vivo Energy Ghana, Mr. Jean- Michel Arlandis said his outfit has committed resources to ensure that drivers benefit from the programme by receiving comprehensive occupational health screening by the Ghana Health Service and wellness education.

He said Vivo Energy Ghana will also present thermometers, glucometer and BP Readers to transport unions in all the regions to facilitate personal health care, adding that the gesture is to empower drivers to take control of their health and drive with confidence and pride.

Throwing more light on the health insurance component of the Shell loyalty club for drivers and families, he explained that the incentive will help address medical emergencies of health issues saying it is an agreement signed with Hollard Insurance.

He therefore urged commercial drivers to take advantage of the health packages for a brighter, healthier and a secured future.

For his part, the Acting Director General of National Road Safety Authority, Ing . David Osafo Adonteng commended Vivo Energy Ghana for the brilliant initiative saying it will go a long way in addressing the health needs of commercial drivers.

He however advised commercial drivers to engage in periodic health checks, adding that the initiative ties into road safety management plan.
