Mahama Pledges to Establish Lasting Peace in Bawku

John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, has made a commitment to prioritize peace in Bawku, Upper East Region, if elected as Ghana’s President.

During a visit to Garu constituency, Mahama emphasized that peace is essential for progress, stating, “Without peace, there can be no progress.” He noted that Bawku experiences peace during NDC’s tenure but faces challenges when the party is out of power.

Mahama assured that the NDC will work towards sustainable peace, collaborating with chiefs, religious leaders, and the community to bring people together. He highlighted Bawku’s importance as a commercial center and outlined initiatives, including:

  1. Farmer’s Service Centre to support farmers
  2. Women’s Development Bank for small-scale loans

However, Mahama stressed that these programs can only be implemented in a peaceful environment.

“NDC is committed to establishing lasting and sustainable peace in Bawku, enabling the area to progress and prosper,” Mahama said.

This pledge demonstrates Mahama’s focus on addressing the region’s long-standing challenges and promoting development through peace and unity.
