Calls for me to be included in the Black Stars AFCON squad will not get into my head but should encourage me to work harder – Richmond Lamptey

Richmond Lamptey, a highly regarded midfielder for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, has addressed calls for his inclusion in the Black Stars squad for the African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

The former Inter Allies player described the campaign to be included in the Black Stars squad for the AFCON tournament as humble.

Speaking on Kotoko’s YouTube channel, he expressed his opinion that he won’t be complacent in the face of demands for his participation in the national squad.

“I’ve heard calls for my inclusion in the Black Stars call-up. But as a professional player, these things shouldn’t get into your head but rather should encourage you to work harder so you bring out your best. I won’t be swollen headed but I will keep working hard” he said

Ghana’s matchups in the group stage of the 2023 AFCON against Cape Verde, Mozambique, and Egypt will take place in Ivory Coast on January 13.

Chris Hughton, the coach of Ghana, is anticipated to reveal his team this month for the forthcoming tournament.
