Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan and Juventus midfielder, Kwadwo Asamoah were the notable absentees in Ghana’s 23-man squad for next weekend’s 2015 Orange Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Black Stars will face the Cranes of Uganda on Saturday, November 15 in Kampala before returning to the northern Ghanaian city of Tamale four days later for the ultimate Group E fixture against neighbours, Hawks of Togo.
Gyan, who plays for United Arab Emirates outfit, Al Ain, is ruled out of the two games due to injury just as the Italian-based Asamoah.
In the place of Gyan, who is Ghana’s top scorer in the campaign with three goals, coach Maxwell Konadu has called up Emmanuel Osei Banahene of Saudi Arabian side, Al Orobah.
According to a statement by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the Stars will begin training in the Ghanaian capital, Accra on Tuesday, 11 November 2014 before travelling to Kampala two days later.
Ghana has eight points, Togo with six points, with Uganda and Guinea in that order with four points apiece.
