Clarity: Okomfo Anokye’s image on the new Kotoko jersey is allowed, It’s only a replica for the fans

Following the release of Asante Kotoko’s 2023-24 home and away jerseys, there have been arguments on social media regarding a sample that has an image of Komfo Anokye embossed on the jersey.

It will be recalled that last season Asante Kotoko had to change the jerseys designs for the 2022-23 season after it was learned that FIFA does not allow clubs to have images of individuals embossed on the Jerseys of football clubs.

The then Kotoko management in collaboration with Errea apparently embossed the image of the Asantehene, the life patron of the club on jerseys for the season which was subsequently changed.

According to Asante Kotoko, the THB-manufactured jersey that has been trending online with the Image of Komfo Anokye is only a replica sample meant for the fans of the club.

It has been noted that, for the matchday jerseys of the club, there are no embossed images of any individual on them.
