Education in Ghana can be improved – Prof Nana Agyemang
Education Minister Prof Jane Nana Agyemang says education in the country can improve if all the stakeholders play their roles well.
She admitted that the sector is facing some challenges, but added that the ministry is doing all it can to rectify any negative impression about education.
Addressing attendees at the ‘Ghana for the People’ forum in Kumasi, Prof Agyemang said: “The education sector in Ghana has made great strides over the years towards refining a system that serves best personal and communal interests.
“The overall aim is to advance citizenship and all aspects of development of the country.
“At every point of the development process, concrete measures, structures and contents have been put in place to ensure the delivery of good quality education at all levels. At this time we acknowledge the efforts of all those who have come before us in the Ministry of Education.”
This reassurance comes in the wake of a catalogue of disastrous examination results and scandals involving teacher absenteeism and poor school facilities.
