Abrankese-based Nations FC Qualify for The Betpawa Premier League
Nations FC confirmed their promotion to the Ghanaian top division after pulling off a thrilling comeback victory over WAFA in the Division One League zone two match-week 28 encounter.
The Kumasi-based team rallied to win 3-2 at home at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese, securing their place in Ghana’s top division for the upcoming year.
Razak Simpson of the West African Football Academy gave them the early lead, but hat-trick hero Abubakari Gariba equalized from the penalty spot in the tenth minute.
Emmanuel Agyemang Duah’s goal in the 58th minute gave the visitors their lead back after they had dominated the first few minutes of the second half.
Gariba came up again to score Nations FC’s equalizer in the 68th minute, then scored the game-winning penalty kick in the 96th to complete his hat trick.
After defeating WAFA 3-2, Nations FC finished first in Division One League zone two and earned a spot in the Ghana Premier League for the 2022–23 season. They still have two games left to play.
With two games left in the season, they currently hold the top spot with 69 points, while Skyy FC is in second place with 57 points.
Heart of Lions, the Zone Three champions, and Nations FC have both joined the Ghana Premier League.
