Xi and Putin discuss return visit on second day of Moscow talks

1. Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin are beginning a second day of talks as part of the Chinese president’s state visit to Moscow

1. Yesterday Putin welcomed his “dear friend” to the Kremlin, and the pair held more than four hours of informal talks
2. According to Russian state media, Xi has invited the Russian leader to visit Beijing sometime this year
3. There are concerns that China’s support for Russia – currently based on technology and trade – might become military
4. Meanwhile in Kyiv, Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will today make a surprise visit for talks with President Zelensky
5. The International Criminal Court last week issued an arrest warrant for President Putin for alleged war crimes in Ukraine.
