CODA Employs 100 Permanent Staff And Others – CEO

The Chief Executive Officer of the Coastal Development Authority, Mr Jerry Ahmed Shaibu has disclosed that his outfit has employed over 100 and other temporal jobbers since the formation of his outfit in 2017.

The CEO announced this when he briefed the Press in Accra to throw light on the happenings at his Authority. ‘Let me say that since the start of our operations in 2018, we have employed several workers, those working at the the office, casual workers at sites, hawkers, food vendors, contractors, sub contractors , suppliers, etc. In all we have embarked on 1,473 projects and as l speak 129 of them are full complete” he emphasized. He explained that as a result of Covid 19 scourge, some of the projects have been delayed but as he spoke most are at completion stage.

Mr Shaib intimated that CODA covers six regions ; Western North, Western Region, The Oti Region, Volta Region, Central Region and Greater Accra Region housing 109 constituencies.Giving the Statistics of the projects, he indicated that Volta has 229, G -AR has 380, Oti has 107 Western North 125, Western 220, Central Region 412. These involves roads, bridges, schools, markets, water systems, Astro Turfs, recreational centers, sanitations, social and economic interventions, etc. He announced that his office is teaming up with Kantanka Group to tidy up the beaches to attract tourists for foreign exchange.

According to him Miami and other beaches fetch their countries millions and Ghana can do same. He therefore called on Ghanaians to support this exercise for better. On the issue of funding these projects he said ther is no budget allocation for the the projects but after identifying the need of the committee, the project is undertaken and later monies are raised by the finance ministry to pay for them. He therefore showed two funding systemd that finance their projects ; Annual Budget Funding from the oil revenue and support from the government of Ghana per one million one constituency policy.

He outlined a number of initiatives like purchase of out- board motors for the fisher folks at a considerably subsidised price, assistance to peasant farmers to expand their farms, distribution of mini cabs to Okada Riders in the catchment areas. He urged the Media to highlight on the activities of CODA for Ghanaians to appreciate government effort in alleviating hardship in the country.
