Former Gender Minister OTIKO Djaba Donates 160 Wheelchairs To Physically Challenged Persons
The former Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Ms Otiko Afisah Djaba, has donated 160 wheelchairs and walking aid to Physically Challenged persons across the 16 regions in the country as part of her 60th Birthday anniversary.
The colourful event brought together friends and lovers of the former Minister, Physically Challenged persons across the country and family to dine and wine as they sang songs of praises to God for 60 years of her life.
Addressing the gathering, Ms Djaba said, it is not everybody that God has given him or her the privilege to attain 60. Therefore, if she is still alive after going through terrible challenges, the only thing to do is to, thank the Almighty God and show appreciation by way of assisting the needy in society.
She pointed out that, anytime she encounters challenges, God quickly provides her a helper.
Her love for the Physically Challenged persons she stated, is special and urged the beneficiaries of the items to always thank God for her life.
According to her, when God blesses an individual, it is important to also give back to the society explaining that, the establishment of Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation is in memory of her late father.
She noted that, persons with disability in Ghana are not well treated in the society, their situations can equally happen to anyone.
“In life, you must give thanks to God in any situation you find yourself in.” She added
The main Goal of Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation is to raise awareness on the potentials of women, girls, PWDs and marginalized groups through their flagship weekly TV program.
Also, to identify, motivate and train talented women, girls and persons with disability for leadership roles, personal and national development.
Furthermore, to mitigate barriers that impede growth and development of vulnerable women, girls and PWDs through strategic partnership and collaborations with organisations, duty bearers, government agencies, CSOs, donors, and philanthropist.
