Kow Essuman Calls For Unity As Ablekuma West Heads To Npp Electoral Affairs Committee Hearing

Kow Abaka Essuman, Chairman of the Martin de Porres Polling Station in Ablekuma West Constituency, has urged NPP members to attend Monday’s Electoral Affairs Committee hearing with unity and relevant evidence, as the party seeks to resolve outstanding irregularities from the constituency’s internal elections.

In a statement issued on Sunday, July 19, 2026, Mr. Essuman referenced an invitation dated July 17, 2026 from the Director of Electoral Affairs, summoning constituency officers and interested parties from constituencies affected by electoral irregularities, including Ablekuma West, to appear before the Electoral Affairs Committee of the National Council.

Some Irregularities Addressed, Others Remain
Mr. Essuman noted that some of the concerns raised have already been corrected.
“I note that some of the irregularities complained of have since been corrected, including the restoration of my own name to the electoral register, popularly referred to as the album, from which it had earlier been removed. I am grateful for that,” he said.

He however added that *“many other irregularities remain outstanding and unresolved,”* and welcomed the opportunity for them to be considered by the Committee.

Members Commended For Using Proper Channels
The statement commended Ablekuma West members for pursuing their concerns through the party’s internal processes.
“They have raised their concerns meticulously and through the proper channels, including the submission of various petitions to the National Executive Committee. That is the conduct of members who love the Party and want it to work,” Mr. Essuman stated.

Hearing Set For Monday
The hearing for Ablekuma West is scheduled for Monday, 20th July 2026 at 8:00am at the Npp Party Headquarters. All invited constituencies and interested parties have been asked to attend with documents, reports, and evidence to assist the Committee.

Mr. Essuman expressed hope that the Committee would give a fair hearing to every aggrieved member and arrive at a decision acceptable to all.
“We may never have a perfect electoral register in Ablekuma West, but we can certainly have something very close to it, and that is what we must all work towards,” he said.

Call For Unity Ahead Of 2028
He concluded by urging members to prioritize unity in the constituency.
“Above all, let our focus be unity within the constituency, so that we can prosecute a vigorous campaign to retake power from the NDC. This hearing is a critical step in that direction.”

The Electoral Affairs Committee hearing is expected to review petitions and evidence from Ablekuma West and other affected constituencies as the NPP works to streamline its internal registers ahead of future elections.
