Police Abandon IGP Midway Through Demonstration Over Rising Indiscipline

Demonstration against societal indiscipline disrupted at Wontumi Radio as police cite reassignment

A peaceful one-man demonstration meant to highlight rising indiscipline in Ghanaian communities was cut short on Thursday after police officers assigned to provide security reportedly abandoned the protester midway through the route.

The demonstrator, Dr. Think Twice, popularly known as IGP, organized the march to draw attention to what he describes as growing indiscipline across the country. He said he sought prior police assistance to ensure the protest remained lawful and peaceful.

Planned route disrupted
The protest was scheduled to start at Kaneshie Mpampam and move through First Light, Abossey Okai, Circle, Wontumi Radio, Multimedia, Atinka Media, Despite Media, before ending at the Tesano Police Station.

According to Dr. Think Twice, the march proceeded smoothly until the team reached the vicinity of Wontumi Radio. There, the officers accompanying him allegedly informed him they had been reassigned to another duty and could no longer continue. That withdrawal left him stranded and unable to complete the march as planned.

“Ironic” abandonment
Dr. Think Twice described the incident as ironic. “While I was protesting against indiscipline, the security officers tasked with supporting a lawful exercise allegedly abandoned me without prior notice,” he said.

He argued that the action disrupted what was intended to be a legal, peaceful protest ending at the Tesano Police Station.

Petition planned
Following the disruption, Dr. Think Twice said he will petition the Police Headquarters, the Kaneshie Police Divisional Command, and the Ministry of the Interior. He is seeking an explanation and redress over what he calls the unprofessional conduct of the officers involved.
