Don’t Insult Our Intelligence – Questions Mount Over Sedina Tamakloe’s Whereabouts After Conviction

Concerns are growing over the whereabouts of convicted former public official Sedina Tamakloe, with calls mounting for authorities to provide clarity on her status following her sentencing.
Speaking on the matter via Kessben Maakye show, Andy Kankam, Managing Editor of Informer Newspaper, described the silence from the Ghana Prisons Service regarding Tamakloe’s whereabouts as increasingly suspicious.
According to him, while reports indicate that Tamakloe’s alleged accomplice has been granted bail pending appeal, the public deserves transparency concerning Tamakloe’s current location and custodial status.
Kankam stated that government spokesperson Kwakye Ofosu had informed the public that Tamakloe had arrived in Ghana and was expected to be in the custody of the Ghana Prisons Service while formalities were completed for the commencement of her 10-year prison sentence.
“She is a convicted criminal, and we have to know her whereabouts,” he stressed, arguing that the case involves resources belonging to the state and therefore requires full public accountability.
While acknowledging Tamakloe’s constitutional right to appeal her conviction, Kankam maintained that the issue at hand is not the appeal process itself but transparency and the fight against corruption.
“I am not against her pursuing an appeal, but we are talking about accountability and the fight against corruption,” he said.
He further called on government authorities to clearly communicate Tamakloe’s status to the public.
“If she has been convicted, we want government to tell us exactly where she is,” he demanded.
Ending his remarks with a sharp rebuke, Kankam warned authorities against withholding information from the public, declaring: “They should not insult our intelligence.”
The comments come amid growing public interest in the case and increasing demands for official clarification regarding Tamakloe’s whereabouts following her conviction.
