“If Their Mothers Were in Flood Zones, They’d Act Fast” – Dr. Kpikpi Criticizes Leaders

Presidential Candidate of the Progressive Alliance for Ghana (PAG), Dr. John Enyonam Kpikpi, has criticized political leaders over what he describes as a lack of urgency in addressing the country’s recurring flooding challenges.

Speaking on Kantanka TV’s Fontomfrom Morning Show, Dr. Kpikpi argued that authorities would respond differently if their own family members were directly affected by floods.
According to him, many leaders have failed to show genuine concern for residents living in flood-prone communities despite the devastating impact flooding continues to have on lives and property.

“If their mother was in the flood zone, they would do something immediately about her. They would either take her out of there or do something. The urgency is missing. They don’t actually care enough to do anything, so the love is missing. If it was somebody close to them, you would see a totally different reaction. They’ll come and say the same thing, lip service, but then wait; the following year we’ll have the same thing happening,” Dr. Kpikpi stated.

The PAG flagbearer said the persistent flooding problem reflects a failure to prioritize the welfare of ordinary citizens, noting that communities continue to suffer the same challenges year after year despite repeated promises from authorities.

His remarks come amid growing concerns over the impact of seasonal floods, which continue to destroy homes, businesses, and livelihoods in several parts of the country.

Dr. Kpikpi called for a more compassionate and proactive approach to governance, insisting that leaders must treat the suffering of citizens with the same urgency they would show if their own relatives were affected.
