Gov’t prioritising employment and economic recovery-Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has stated that his administration is prioritising job creation and economic recovery as part of efforts to improve the living conditions of Ghanaians and restore confidence in the economy.
Speaking at the Eid-ul-Adha celebrations held at the Black Star Square in Accra, President Mahama acknowledged the economic difficulties facing the country but assured citizens that government was implementing policies aimed at stabilising the economy and creating opportunities for the youth.
According to the President, the government remains focused on supporting local businesses, expanding employment opportunities and promoting inclusive economic growth.
“Our focus now remains on creating jobs, supporting local enterprises, expanding opportunities for young people and improving living conditions for ordinary Ghanaians,” he stated.
President Mahama explained that key initiatives such as the proposed 24-hour economy policy, skills training programmes, apprenticeship schemes and industrial expansion would play a critical role in generating sustainable employment for young people.
He noted that government was determined to build a resilient economy that benefits all citizens while ensuring productivity and long-term national development.
Touching on community development, President Mahama stressed the importance of improving infrastructure in underserved areas, especially Zongo communities across the country.
He announced that government would soon begin the construction and rehabilitation of roads and other essential infrastructure projects in several Zongo communities to enhance economic activity and improve living standards.
The President also disclosed that 6,000 Arabic teachers had been recruited and fully paid through the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) as part of efforts to improve education and provide jobs for qualified young people.
He added that the programme would be expanded to create additional opportunities while strengthening educational development in Muslim communities.
President Mahama further revealed plans to construct modern community day senior high schools in densely populated urban and Zongo communities to improve access to quality education.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to rebuilding the economy, creating decent jobs and ensuring better living conditions for all Ghanaians.
