Dumsor: If the NPP had invested well in the energy sector after Mahama had fixed Dumsor when he left office in 2016, we wouldn’t be here – Hon. Issaka Yamba

Hon Ibrahim Yamba has weighed in on Ghana’s ongoing power challenges, attributing the situation to what he describes as a lack of sustained investment in the energy sector.
Speaking on Kessben FM, Issaka Yamba Nelson, the District Chief Executive for the Ahafo Ano South-East District, argued that the current “Dumsor” situation could have been avoided.
According to him, John Dramani Mahama had resolved the power crisis before leaving office in 2016, and that continued investment by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would have maintained stability in electricity supply.
He maintained that the failure to build on the progress made has contributed to the re-emergence of intermittent power outages, a situation that continues to affect businesses and households across the country.
The remarks add to ongoing political exchanges between the NPP and the National Democratic Congress, with both sides presenting differing accounts of how Ghana’s energy sector has been managed over the years.
