Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui Condemns Obrakyere SHTS Incident, Assures Heightened Security

The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West, Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui, has condemned a recent violent incident that occurred in front of the Obrakyere Senior High and Technical School campus, describing it as a criminal act that has unsettled the community.

According to reports, the incident happened directly in front of the school premises, causing fear and panic among students and residents. It is alleged that a group of young men arrived from Swedru on about six motorbikes, with two men on each bike.

The MP described the development as a “typical criminal act” and assured residents that steps are being taken to restore calm and ensure the safety of students.

Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Madam Hagar Nyamekye, has reportedly disputed claims about casualties linked to the incident.

In response to heightened tensions, police protection has been deployed to the school to maintain law and order.

Authorities have also confirmed that no student will be allowed to leave the school premises until further notice, except under strict supervision.

Some parents have reportedly gone to the school to pick up their wards amid safety concerns, while sections of the town have indicated plans to protest the incident.

The MP, together with the police command, has engaged community leaders and residents to address security concerns and prevent any escalation.

As part of immediate measures, all sporting activities in the Central Region have been suspended temporarily.

Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui further indicated that attention is being given to the psychological well-being of the students. She assured that psychologists would be made available to counsel affected students and help them deal with any trauma resulting from the incident.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to ensure peace and stability in the area.
