There are some friends if you don’t distance yourself from, It will be very difficult for you to progress in life – Rev. Vincent Kankam (Sofo Kankam)

Rev. Vincent Kankam on his ‘Why Can’t You Change?” episode, has addressed the often-overlooked impact of personal relationships on one’s growth. Rev. Kankam urged individuals to evaluate the company they keep, warning that some friendships can be a serious barrier to personal progress.
Speaking on the Wednesday edition of the Food For Thought show, he stressed, that “There are some friends,” he stated frankly, “that if you don’t distance yourself from, your progress in life will be difficult.”
The message was not just a critique of toxic relationships but a wake-up call for self-assessment. Rev. Kankam emphasized that while loyalty and history may make it hard to walk away from certain people, clinging to relationships that no longer align with one’s goals or values can hold a person back from reaching their full potential.
He challenged listeners to upgrade themselves and actively add value to their lives, spiritually, mentally, professionally, and emotionally. According to Rev. Kankam, true growth often requires shedding old habits and associations that no longer serve one’s destiny.
“It’s not pride, it’s progress,” he explained. “Sometimes separation is necessary for elevation.”
Rev. Kankam left listeners with a poignant reminder: “Evaluate your circle. The people closest to you should inspire, challenge, and push you forward, not keep you in place.”
