NAPO Rallies Support for Dr. Bawumia’s Presidential Bid at UPSA Event”

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Running Mate for the 2024 elections, has called on students of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), to rally behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming presidential elections. Addressing a packed auditorium on campus, Dr. Prempeh emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s unparalleled vision for Ghana, particularly in driving digital transformation and economic growth.
The former Education Minister reminded the students of the achievements of the NPP government under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia. He highlighted key reforms, including the introduction of Free Senior High School (Free SHS), digitization of public services, and infrastructure development.
“Dr. Bawumia has demonstrated that he is the leader Ghana needs to navigate the complexities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. His track record in digitalizing our economy, from mobile money interoperability to digitized property addressing, shows his ability to lead us into a modern, progressive era,” Dr. Prempeh stated.
He contrasted this with the record of former President John Dramani Mahama, describing his tenure as one characterized by economic mismanagement and policy reversals. “Ghanaians have experienced the leadership of John Mahama, and the verdict is clear—his record does not merit another chance. Under his administration, we faced unprecedented power outages, massive unemployment, and failed promises. Ghana cannot afford to go back,” he emphasized.
Dr. Prempeh also underscored the significance of youth participation in the 2024 elections, urging the students to make their voices heard by turning out in their numbers to vote. “The future of this country lies in your hands. It is your duty to vote for progress and innovation. Dr. Bawumia is the leader who will create opportunities for you and future generations,” he said.
Students in attendance expressed enthusiasm, with many pledging their support for the NPP. Nana Akua Mensah, a third-year Business Administration student, remarked, “Dr. Prempeh’s presentation was inspiring. It’s clear the NPP has the interest of students and young people at heart.”
The visit to UPSA forms part of a broader campaign to mobilize youth support for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP in the December 2024 elections. Dr. Prempeh urged the students to spread the message of hope and transformation across their communities, assuring them that the NPP remains focused on delivering a brighter future for all Ghanaians.
