Brassier saves Brest from falling (FT: Brest 1-1 Reims)
Brest’s opportunity to pass AS Monaco in second place in the Ligue 1 rankings evaporated as they battled to a 1-1 draw with Reims to maintain their third-place position.
Marshsa’s header in the 25th minute gave Reims the lead after he had met Junya Ito’s cross during the counterattack. Before the half, Lilian Brassier’s header from a Kenny Kala free kick tied the score for the hosts.
Despite dominating the second half, Brest was unable to score, with striker Steve Monnie and winger Jeremy coming closest.
After making it to Europe for the first time, Eric Roy’s team is aiming for a top-four finish and a Champions League berth.
With one game left, they are three points behind Monaco, who play Montpeillier on Sunday, and three ahead of Lille, who play Nantes. They currently have 58 points. In addition to having two games remaining, Monaco has a better goal differential than Brest though.
