In moment of anger between father and children, let’s be careful about what we say, as it can be a curse – Rev Vincent Kankam (Sofo Kankam)

Rev. Vincent Kankam, speaking ahead of the Father’s Day celebration, issued a heartfelt call for emotional discipline in family life, particularly in moments of conflict between parents and children.
Speaking on Kessben FM, Rev. Kankam stressed the lasting impact of words spoken in anger.
“In the moment of anger between father and child, let us be careful about what we say,” Rev. Kankam urged listeners. “Words spoken in haste and fury can unknowingly become a curse, something that lingers and shapes a child’s future.” he said.
Sofo Kankam emphasized that while emotions are natural, especially in the dynamics of parenting and discipline, unchecked anger can lead to regret. He pointed out that many people carry the weight of harsh words spoken over them in childhood, often by a parent who was simply overwhelmed or upset at the time.
“Let us do away of cursing or condemning words when we are angry,” he added. “Instead, step back, breathe, and speak when your heart is calm. Words are powerful; they can build or they can break.”
Numerous studies support the idea that parental verbal abuse or criticism, especially when repeated or delivered in anger, can lead to long-term emotional harm in children, including anxiety, low self-esteem, and trust issues.
