Over-eating is a symptom of mental disorder- UCC Lecturer

Overeating may be an indication of mental health issues, according to Dr. Lydia Aframea Dankyi, Head of the Counseling Unit at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), College of Distance Education (CoDe).

Speaking on Property FM in Cape Coast, she stated that there are numerous signs of mental health issues.

“There are some people that do the things that they used to do on a daily basis suddenly they stop doing it with no reason.

“If the person happens to be a student on campus, then you’d realize that they stop going for lectures when nothing is occupying their attention.  Some people don’t feel like eating or do not eat at all, especially looking at the food they normally eat like kenkey and Gob3,

“There are some people who will also eat more than necessary. If they used to eat a ball of kenkey the person will now consume more balls. These and many more are signs that when a student or your ward starts to show then they might probably be experiencing mental health difficulties,”
