I was part of the people who introduced live band music in Ivory Coast – Oboy Siki

Ghanaian Kumwood actor, Oboy Siki has revealed that he was part of the promoters who introduced live band music in the Ivory Coast 3 and half decades ago.

The outspoken Ghanaian actor in an interview in a one-on-one interview with Mr. Bonez on Kessben TV divulged that he debuted in the entertainment industry as a band’s man before transitioning to movies.

He disclosed that he moved and spent about 2 years in Abidjan in the mid-80s while the live band craze was taking a nose dive in Ghana.

According to him, prior to 1982, the people of Ivory Coast had not experienced anything like live band music.

“We introduced live band music in Abidjan. Went to Abidjan in 1984 which was after the famous 1983 hanger in Ghana. Things became very tough so we had to move. Live band at that time then in Ghana became some way.

So we went there and they never knew something like that. Hearing the music they had been hearing being played live was something new to them.

I actually went there for business. Sent some records and cassettes to sell” He said.
