Dampare faces parliamentary committee on ‘leaked tape’ tomorrow, Tuesday

On Tuesday, September 12, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police, will testify before a parliamentary committee looking into a tape that was leaked about his administration.

This was revealed in Accra by Samuel Atta Akyea, the chairman of the 7-member ad hoc committee looking into the attempt to oust the Inspector General of Police.

All three senior police officers who have already testified before the committee, COP Alex Mensah, Superintendent George Asare, and Superintendent Emmanuel Eric Gyebi, are anticipated to return with their attorneys on Tuesday, September 12.

In addition, Dr. Akuffo Dampare has declared that he will abstain from participating in the disciplinary proceedings involving the three police officers featured on the tape.

The IGP reportedly took this action to maintain fairness and transparency in the continuing investigations into the incident, according to dependable sources inside the Ghana Police Service.

This development comes after the recent suspension of the interdiction of the officers who were seen on the footage that was leaked conversing with Bugri Naabu on how to unseat the IGP.
