Chelsea enquire about Brennan Johnson & Jeremy Doku after Michael Olise snub

Chelsea are keen to move on from their failed pursuit of Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise and have lodged enquiries over a number of alternative targets, 90min understands.

The Blues triggered a £35m release clause in Olise’s Palace contract and thought they had a deal for the 21-year-old wrapped up,

Head coach Mauricio Pochettino still wants a new face to bolster his forward line and sources have confirmed to 90min that enquiries have been lodged over Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson and Rennes’ Jeremy Doku.

Forest have been fending off interest in Johnson all summer and rejected a bid of around £40m from Brentford, although they are understood to be willing to listen to offers of player swaps.

Johnson was on Chelsea’s radar before the move for Olise fell through but the Blues have now stepped up their interest.

As for Doku, who is also on Manchester City’s radar as a potential replacement for Riyad Mahrez, Chelsea have reached out to determine whether a move for the 21-year-old would be feasible.

Chelsea have a long list of potential targets and have spent the summer exploring the options available to them.

Interest in Lyon’s Rayan Cherki was lodged earlier this summer, while Chelsea have also discussed personal terms with Ajax Kudus. 90min understands both players remain of interest.

Chelsea are expected to announce the signing of midfielder Romeo Lavia from Southampton imminently and are also keen to find a new goalkeeper to compete with new signing Robert Sanchez.
