Parliament is the most useless institution in Ghana – Akwasi Addai Odike

The founder of the United Progressive Party, Akwasi Addai Odike has emphatically pointed to Ghana’s parliament as the most useless institution in the country.

The outspoken politician reckons partisan democracy has been the worst of form Governance system which continues to drag the nation back due to the vested interest of the people.

Speaking on Kessben Maakye with Kwame Appiah Kubi, Odike stressed that our governance system where MP hopefuls have to pay monies to delegates before giving the opportunity is a clear indication of a rotten system.

“They will be there because of their personal interest and what they are going to get from a particular person. If Muntaka is there, there are some people who are going to chop, and if the other guy is there, some people are also going to chop.

You see everyone is there because of personal interest overriding the national interest. That’s what party democracy has brought. All have departed from the national interest.

Parliament has become the most useless institution in Ghana, Yes let me reiterate parliament is the most useless institution in Ghana.

Hon Kyei Mensah Bonsu has admitted that parliament has become very weak. IC Quaye has also said it’s not working anymore.

No one can’t intimidate me. They should invite me, I will tell them my mind. It is our taxes which are used to pay them. Now the party is regulating parliamentary affairs” He said.
