Data Science is the key to great careers – Priscilla Wiah
Madam Priscilla Wiah, a Research Associate of Ghana Tech Lab (GTL) during a key note address at the Local Consultative Stakeholder Meeting at the Ghana Tech Lab in the Accra Digital Center under the theme ‘’The Role of Data Science in Transforming the Local Economy for Job Creation and Economic Development in Ghana says data science continues to evolve as one of the most promising and in demand career paths and services.
Speaking at the event, she emphatically said that, the service is more forward-looking approach and an extraordinary way with the focus on analyzing the past and current data and predicting the future outcome with the aim of making informed decisions. In an interaction with the stakeholders and participants, she mentioned that, data science is becoming more popular each day and important in our daily lives. The role of data science is to generate meaning and knowledge for both structured and unstructured and also to help creating meaning to abreast people on getting information, she added.
Overview
Data Science the area of study which involves extracting insights from vast amounts of data using various scientific methods, algorithms, and processes. It helps in discovering hidden patterns from the raw data. The term Data Science has emerged because of the evolution of mathematical statistics, data analysis, and big data.
In an interview with Mr. David Armaah, the research associate of GTL speaking on Ecosystem said, the objective of the Ecosystem is to create increase awareness on the level of the start-up ecosystem and the opportunities that can be accessed in Ghana. He also disclosed that the engagement with the stakeholders and participants is aimed at presenting to them key findings of the various pillars to propel deep conversations on strengthening Ghana’s Start-up Ecosystem which enables them to discover the unique and strategic opportunities ecosystem provides. Through information and findings to access networking, start-up skills process innovation, risk acceptance, technology absorption, etc.it serves as key components used in data, he stated.
