Ghana Models Awards 2022 Comes off Successfully

The fifth installment of the annual Ghana Models Awards, successfully took place at Airport View Hotel in Accra on Saturday 15th October 2022. A host of models and other stakeholders of the modelling industry gathered to celebrate models and related personalities, who have worked hard and have contributed to the progress of the modelling industry in Ghana. The organizer of the event Jerry Wonder, stated that this year was different from previous years in terms of the winners, the event as a whole and the vision of the Ghana Models Awards initiative.

Explaining what made this year’s Ghana Models Awards unique, the Event Director for the Ghana Models Awards Jerry Wonder, said that certain significant changes had occurred. “First of all, we have separated the child models from the adults. And so, the children now have their own awards which is organized separately. Also, in the adult’s edition, we have separated editorial modelling from commercial modelling in order to give room for more models in editorial modelling to emerge; this was necessitated by the loud editorial works of model Aisha Napari (winner of the Overall Female Model of the Year). We also had our first overall winner from overseas. All these have strengthened the overall vision of the Ghana Models Awards and so, this year’s edition is what I call the ‘catapult edition’, as it is propelling the event to greater heights”, he explained.

This year, the Overall Female Model of the Year went to Aisha Napari while the Overall Male Model of the Year was won by New York based Ghanaian model Joseph T. Aggrey. The overall ‘Model Agency of the Year’ was ‘Godzy Modelling Agency’ with ‘Iconz Models’ winning the ‘Most Promising Model Agency of the Year’.

Other winners included Harriet Alubankudi as the ‘Plus Size Model of the Year’ Efya Harmless as the ‘Bikini/ Lingerie Model of the Year’, Libby Dsane as the ‘Female Commercial Model of the Year’, George Kafui as the ‘Commercial Male Model of the Year’, Clinton Samuel as the ‘Editorial Male Model of the Year’ amongst others.

Special honorary awards were given during the night which included Abrantie College for ‘Contribution by Organization’ to modelling, Hadjia Adiza Faila for ‘Contribution by Individual’ to modelling, Abu Saddick for ‘Consistency by Individual’, Riohs Design College for ‘Consistency by Organization’ amongst others.
