Some members of the majority have spoken to us privately to remain resolute on our stance against E-Levy – Hon. Murtala Mohammed
Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Hon. Ibrahim Murtala has revealed that some members of the Majority Caucus in parliament are privately encouraging them with their public stance against the proposed E-Levy by the Government.
Hon. Ibrahim Murtala speaking on Kessben Maakye with Kwame Appiah Kubi said some members of the majority are completely against the introduction of the E-levy but due to politics, they cannot make their true stance known.
He lamented that the government should eat a humble pie to withdraw the proposed E-levy from the 2022 budget considering the total disapproval it has received from the public.
According to him, there are better alternatives for the government to make money to run the economy as they claim to use the E-levy money.
He cited the fact that in 2021 alone, the Auditor’s General report revealed that over 12 billion Ghana Cedis were wasted. He noted if that angle is carefully looked at and checked the country will be making good money.
