We Expect More From Veep – Mensah Thompson

The Executive Director of ASEPA said he expects more from the vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. According to him, the performance of the vice president is of a low standard and much is expected from him when addressing the country on economy.

He mentioned that, our current situation on the economy is on a stand still and not progressing and has affected businesses in the country. Earlier this week, the Moody Investor Service and Standard and Poor (“S & P”) indicated that, Ghana’s economy is recovering from the effects of the pandemic faster than its peers.

On the 14th of September 2021, the H.E Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo stated that Ghana’s economy is rebounding faster from ravages of Covid-19 than envisioned, following the slow rate of growth in the year 2020. This he said during the maiden edition of the Presidential Business Support.

In the view of this, Mr. Mensah Thompson however says, the government can not measure the growth of the economy with mere figures or percentage but can only attest to the growth of the economy by how people feel in their pockets.

He therefore advices that the economy should not be politicize but rather focus on building a strong foundation of economy to help in developing the country. However, Hon. Collins Adomako Mensah, MP for Afigya Kwabre North Constituency, said the economy currently is booming up and the NPP government is doing well on the economy .” i am confident that by the end of the year we will improve on the economy” he said.
