Fake nurse arrested at KATH
A young lady believed to be in her mid 20s has been arrested at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for posing as a nurse of the facility.
The imposter whose identity has been withheld claimed to have completed school at the KATH Nursing Training College was immediately picked up by the police after attempting to attend to a patient.
Speaking to Ultimate News’ Isaac Bediako, management of the hospital confirmed the suspect is not known in any official records of the hospital.
According to the Director of Nursing Services (DNS) at KATH, Madam Patient Yeboah Ampong, the suspect claims she had applied for a job at the facility but has since not received any confirmation.
She said the frustration of joblessness after completing her nursing training compelled her to arbitrarily start work at the hospital, indicating that her first attempt at attending to a patient gave her up.
“She claimed she had applied for a job here but we haven’t given her any appointment letter and somehow decided to offer philanthropic services without anybody’s authority. The first place she went she was recognized as not being a nurse and they fished her out and handed her over to the police, she is now at the police station,” she stated.
Madam Ampong hinted that the arrest of the suspect adds up to a number of similar cases including fake doctors recorded at the Hospital.
“We had two people pretending to be doctors and they were fished out. You cannot get into the system and not being seen,” she warned.
The Ashanti region police have begun questioning the suspect.
