The Electoral Commission will by strict orders ensure the “no verification no vote” system during the Talensi by-election on Tuesday, July 7, the Commission has said.
The EC in the Upper East Region said no exceptions will be made on the day of voting.
The Upper East Regional EC Director, James Arthur, said: “The law says you must be verified before you vote and that is what the parties agreed on before the 2012 elections so we will go by it until they change the law.”

He stressed that the Commission has decided that everyone who will vote in Talensi will have to be verified. He promised that the quality of the verification machines have been improved “so we are praying that there will be no disappointments…”
Mr Arthur added that preparations are progressing steadily and there is currently no problem.
He however expressed the hope that voting on Tuesday will be peaceful “and we hope that at the end of it, everybody will take the results in good faith.”
