Burna Boy disappointed over 2015 MTV MAMAs snub
Damini Ogulu Burna, Nigerian musician, better known on stage as Burna Boy, is disappointed that his exploits over the past year has not earned him even a single nomination at the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA).
The musician, who claims he never gets what he deserves, is accusing the organisers of not being fair with the nominations for this year’s awards.
Burna Boy made his reservations known shortly after the nominees for the 2015 awards were announced at a star-studded reception at the Harem, Johannesburg, South Africa on Thursday.
He vented on Twitter: “Really bummed @MTVbaseAfrica didn’t nominate me. I knew I wasn’t Gunna win SHXT because I never get what I deserve, but damn this is quite deep.”
This year, two of Nigeria’s biggest acts, Davido and Wizkid will battle AKA from South Africa, Diamond from Tanzania, and Ghana’s Sarkodie for the ‘Best Male’ award.
In spite of not receiving any nomination, the ‘Soke’ singer thanked his fans for being really supportive of his career over the long time.
“God bless my fans as well. You-all have always been my real Awards. Imma keep doing it for you-all forever. #unstoppable #spaceship,” he stated.
This year’s awards ceremony, which will be used to honour the late South African president, Nelson Mandela, will be taken on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the Durban International Convention Centre (ICC), KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
