African diaspora cinema celebrated

Viewers will be able to choose their best films from the African diaspora after the Golden Icons Academy Movie Awards (GIAMA) organization officially released nominations for its 2014 scheme.
For the two categories under viewer’s choice, voting begins on August 15 and ends on August 31 at www.giamaawards.com.
According to the jury, this year’s production in African cinema was very competitive, as filmmakers depicted inner complications of the human mind in the execution of the various movies submitted for review.
Although the African diaspora film industry is still in its infancy, it is progressing.
The GIAMA awards are scheduled to take place at the Stafford Centre in Texas on October 25, 2014.
