Kwesi Appiah should stay – Asamoah Gyan

Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan has backed Kwesi Appiah to continue as the head coach of the team.
There have been reports that the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association have decided to review the two-year contract extension for Kwesi Appiah by beefing up the Black Stars’ technical team with the inclusion of a Technical Director to head the team.
However the 28-year-old skipper believes Kwesi Appiah is competent enough to direct the technical affairs of the senior national team of Ghana, without any supervisor.
“I would be disappointed if any coach is brought on board to head the Black Stars, looking at the prowess of Kwesi Appiah,” Gyan told Angel FM.
“Kwesi Appiah introduced most of the current players into the team and gave them the chance to excel. At the moment we have a strong team that makes the future bright.
“Although we had a difficult World Cup with series of problems, he cannot be blamed for our inability to progress past the group stage.
“What Kwesi Appiah needs now is the supports of the public and the GFA.”
Ghana were for the very first time in their World Cup campaigns unsuccessful in making the knockout stage amidst issues of player agitation, delay in the payment of appearance fee, misconduct and many more.
