FIFA: World Cup is drug free

FIFA have declared the 2014 World Cup ‘drug free’ after the organisation’s medical committee reported that there have been no positive doping tests during or in the build-up to the tournament.
More than 1,000 tests have been conducted – 777 out of competition and 232 during the tournament – and none have come back with a positive result.
“We have not found any prohibitive (sic) substances… either prior to or during competition,” FIFA’s chief medical officer Jiri Dvorak told a press conference.
The four teams remaining in the competition will continue to be tested until the conclusion of the event.
All tests have taken place at the World Anti-Doping Agency’s laboratory in Switzerland after the agency revoked the license of the drug-testing facility in Rio de Janeiro for failing to meet the necessary standards.
