Christian groups declare June 30 – July 6 a National Week of Prayer & Thanksgiving
A group of Christian church associations have declared a National Week of Prayer and Thanksgiving from June 30 to July 6.
The event is being organised by the Christian Council of Ghana in collaboration with the National Catholic Secretariat, Council of Independent Churches, National Association of Charismatic and Christian Churches and the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council.
The church leaders are organising the prayer and thanksgiving session to show appreciation to God for his mercies and goodness even in the midst of the country’s challenges. Rev. Dr. Kwabena Opuni-Frimpong, who is also the General Secretary of Christian Council of Ghana, disclosed this at a press conference held in Accra.
He quoted 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 which reads: “Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks for this is God’s will in Christ Jesus” as an exhortation from the Apostle Paul emphasising the need for prayer and thanksgiving, irrespective of what we are going through and where we find ourselves.
Rev. Dr. Opuni-Frimpong leading the various councils for the crusade said Christians must always acknowledge their relationship with God as prayer is pivotal to their spiritual journey, national life and development, adding Christians must never stop depending on God for their survival.
