R2Bees win big at VGMA 2013
It was a night to behold for the men from Tema, as they took home 6 awards at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2013, including the much coveted Artiste of the Year award.
The two men who are responsible for tracks such as ‘walahi’ and ‘Its Alright’ and have been nominated for the 2013 Black Entertainment Television ( BET) award for the Best International Act (Africa) category, dedicated the ultimate prize of the night to their fans.
They also mentioned and acknowledged injured artiste artiste, Yaw Siki.
The duo, made up of Faisal Hakeem (Paedae da Pralem) and Rashid Mugeez (Mugeez), also walked away with a brand new MG Rover vehicle and Samsung Galaxy S4 phones from Vodafone.
The glitzy event which showcased some of Ghana’s finest finest acts such as Sarkodie, Efya, VIP and Kwaw Kese also featured performance from Nigerian artistes such as WizKid and Banky W and international act, Fuse ODG of ‘Antenna’ fame.
Other big winners on the night were M.anifest, Herty borngreat and Kaakie.
MCs for the night were KOD and Eazzy, who after the event wrote on Twitter: “thank u Lord for making my first stage hosting gig a sucess..co -hosting vgma was so much fun”
The 2013 edition of the event however, did not go without its usual controversy as several fans, through Twitter and Facebook, expressed disappointment at the choice of some winners in some categories.
