Election Petition: Hearing resumes today

Lawyer for President John Mahama would have to adopt a new method of cross-examining Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia on the witness stand today.

The Supreme Court will resume hearing on the Election Petition case in which three leading members of the NPP are challenging the verdict of the 2012 general elections.

The latest development is due to a directive from the Judges who have said they will no longer accept the method of cross examination adopted by Tony Lithur.

The Court in a letter signed by the presiding Judge, Justice William Atuguba said Mr. Lithur should now list all duplicated pink sheets and send an electronic version of the lists to the court and the petitioners.

This is expected to fast-track the cross-examination of Dr. Bawumia.

Meanwhile, a member of the NDC legal team Victor Kojogah Adawudu has suggested that despite the directive, Dr. Bawumia will still have a difficult time proving his claims that there were cases of over-voting, voting without biometric verification among others.
