Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Inusah Fuseini has called on all nurses who have bought lands from the Ghana Registered Nurses Association to contact their leaders for the appropriate their titles as it is only after the payment has been completed that the transfer will be made.
Speaking to Citi News earlier, a nurse who pleaded anonymity stated that she has been paying huge sums of money to the Association but has not received a title to her land.
However speaking on Citi Eyewitness News, Hon Fuseini stated that the land has been earmarked for the Ghana Registered Nurses Association on very flexible and favourable terms but will only be released after full payment is completed.
“The offices of the Ghana Registered Nurses Association of the Tema General Hospital have been making periodic payments therefore specific allocations have been made to individuals whose names have been brought to them as owners of that land,” he stated.
He advised the nurses to demand transparency and accountability from their leaders.
“What they [nurses] have to do is to demand accountability and transparency from their leaders because I have been told that the lands have been given to them on very flexible terms so I fail to see how the officers can continue to demand for further and higher payments from their members,” he stated.
Hon Fuseini further stated, “The land administration project is on course to ensure that we clean up the mess and bring back sanity into land administration and ensure that land use becomes effective and efficient and the wanton indiscipline of land grabbing is stopped.”
“We are determined to clean this system of elements that will be stumbling blocks in our way,” he added.
The Minister also advised Ghanaians to follow the due process when acquiring land in the country to avoid being duped. “There are steps that one has to take in order to satisfy one’s self that I am buying land from proper persons who can transfer ownership.”
According to the Minister people should cross-check with the Lands Commission who the proper owner of the land is.
