Police administration launches shuttle service

As part of measures to improve the welfare of police personnel, the Police administration has re-introduced the shuttle service.

By this system, police personnel will be transported to and from their duty post in the nation’s capital Accra.

Addressing the media ahead of the official launch, Director General in charge of Administration at the Police Headquarters, COP Rose Bio Atinga said the shuttle system will ease the transportation burden on personnel.

She bemoaned the difficulties police personnel encountered reporting to their duty post and back home, hence the decision to lessen the burden.

“The hustle and bustle that personnel of the service go through on a daily basis in their bid to report for duty is not lost on the police administration; there have been instances that policemen have lost their lives whilst riding motorbikes to work, others have been run over by vehicles in accidents when walking or footing to their duty post and it is therefore in response to this plight that this welfare service has been reintroduced.”

COP Rose Bio Atinga added that the shuttle service will soon take a national dimension.

The vehicles will shuttle through zones including Dansoman, Odorkor, Adenta Housing Down, Legon police station, Korle-bu, Mamprobi, Weija, Sakumono and Nungua.
