Protect Ghana at all cost – President directs Security agencies

President John Mahama has directed the security agencies to put the necessary measures in place to ensure the protection of life and property across in the country.

According to him, he will commit the requisite national resources to ensuring all citizens are safe.

Briefing the media after a closed door meeting between the president and the nation’s security chiefs, Minister for Information and Media Relations, Mahama Ayariga indicated the acting Inspector General of Police and the Chief of Defence Staff had outlined some measures aimed to executing the President’s directive.

According to him, one of the major issues that was addressed at the meeting was the reported attack of residents of Kumasi by armed men on Tuesday.

Hon. Mahama Ayariga mentioned that per the report of the security agencies investigating the situation, “the situation is stable, calm normal and what they are doing is reinforcing and making sure that there are enough men on the ground with enough logistics to be able to patrol and make sure that residents generally feel safe in Kumasi and other parts of the country.”

He added that “when they ask for more men, the President will give appropriate directions regarding reinforcement. This morning the indications from the Police is that they on their own are sending more men to go and support the team on the ground in Kumasi so that there will be greater ability to carry out the monitoring exercise.”
